Carved Beneath the Skin by Jay Jeong un Yang

I created a song using Suno titled 'Carved Beneath the Skin', and the lyrics were inspired by the book 'Tigana' by Guy Gavriel Kay.

The artwork featured in the videos was created by me using ChatGPT.

  Lyrics:

Verse 1
They scrubbed the letters from the stone
Until no trace was left to see
They taught the children other songs
And called it mercy, called it peace
But there is something in the dark
That still remembers how we were
A fragile sound inside my chest
A trembling, stubborn little word

Pre-Chorus
I never say it out in daylight
Never shape it with my mouth
But it is written in my breathing
It is what my heart speaks out

Chorus
They took the name from every wall
But not the way it lives in me
A silent word, a hidden call
The last place you are free
Your name is stitched beneath my tongue
Too dangerous to be confessed
If I forget, we truly die
So I keep you in my chest

Verse 2
I walk through streets that once were ours
But strangers claim them as their own
They smile where we once gathered flowers
And never hear the undertone
The past is folded in my pocket
Like a letter I won’t burn
Because the world has learned to silence
But I have learned to still return

Pre-Chorus
Every memory is rebellion
Every whisper is a choice
I survive by staying quiet
But I endure by keeping voice

Chorus
They took the name from every wall
But not the way it lives in me
A silent word, a hidden call
The last place you are free
Your name is carved beneath my skin
Where no decree can reach or rest
If I forget, we truly fade
So I keep you in my chest

Bridge
If someday I am gone and scattered
If my bones forget their form
May this secret pass like embers
Through another waiting heart
Because a name that lives in silence
Is still a name that has survived
And memory, though never spoken
Is the deepest way we’re alive

Final Chorus
They took the name from every wall
But not the truth I choose to keep
A silent word, a hidden call
That follows me through sleep
You live in every breath I’m hiding
You live in every step I take
A country no one else remembers
But one my soul will never break

Outro
I will not shout you to the world.
I will not carve you into stone.
But while this heart is still remembering…
You are not gone.
